Republicans in the US House of Representatives have chosen Minnesota congressman Tom Emmer as their candidate for Speaker of the House, aiming to resolve the month-long congressional deadlock. Emmer emerged as the Speaker designate after multiple rounds of voting, following the withdrawal of support for Ohio congressman Jim Jordan's candidacy. The decision was made during a closed-door meeting of House Republicans in Washington. This market resolves to "Yes" if before the close of the Market, the Financial Times report that Tom Emmer is the Speaker of the House (this does not include if by some mechanism he drops out but becomes the Interim Speaker before that date).
